Signs Your Elite Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• Gate arm wobbles at the post bracket. The weld between the arm tube and the mounting plate has cracked, usually from the gate bouncing in wind or from a previous impact. In Phoenix, this accelerates when monsoon gusts hit a partially open gate and the arm acts as a lever against the weld.
• Slide gate drags or stalls mid-track. The track weld at the gate’s leading edge has separated, throwing the rollers out of parallel. The motor keeps running but the gate binds because the track is no longer true.
• Visible rust bleeding from a joint. Moisture has penetrated a weld that looked solid from the outside. In Arizona’s dry climate, this usually means the weld was porous from the start or was ground down too thin during a previous repair.

There’s a safe middle ground here. You can verify the model number, measure the bracket, and check whether the weld has actually failed or if a bolt has simply backed out. A loose bolt is a 10-minute fix. A cracked weld on a loaded gate arm is not.

Welding a gate bracket under tension is genuinely dangerous. The gate wants to move, the arm is under load, and a MIG weld on 3/16-inch steel requires proper penetration or the joint will fail again in weeks.
