Meet the Phoenix Team Behind Vance Gate Repair Phoenix

Every gate we touch in Phoenix gets the same crew: people who know the difference between a FAAC 770 and a LiftMaster LA500, who’ve sweated through July afternoons in Arcadia driveways, and who won’t leave until the photo log is complete and the homeowner has the written price in hand. We’re not a dispatch board. We’re four people who answer the phone, load the truck, and stand behind the work.

Adrian Vance, Owner

I started this in 2014 after ten years wiring commercial access-control systems - hospitals, parking structures, the kind of jobs where a failed mag-lock isn’t a hassle, it’s a liability. That habit of documenting everything, every wire run, every programming change, became the Haven Standard. In Phoenix, I still ride to calls when a gate motor is doing something I haven’t seen before, which happens more than you’d think after 22,000 jobs. I live in the north valley with two dogs who’ve learned to stay clear of moving gates. If the hinge is the problem, the motor is just a witness. I say that too often.

Marcus T., Lead Technician

Marcus has been with us since 2017, which in gate-repair years means he’s seen every failure mode a Phoenix summer can cook up. He specializes in troubleshooting intermittent faults - the gate that works fine at 8 a.m. but stalls at 2 p.m. when the transformer hits thermal limit. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster, FAAC, and Viking operators, and he’s the one we send when a BFT sub-board is throwing a fault code nobody recognizes. Off the truck, he rebuilds vintage motorcycles in a garage near 32nd Street and Thomas, which is where he learned to read a wiring diagram without cursing.

Elena R., Senior Installer

Elena joined us in 2019 after six years doing structural welding and fabrication for a Phoenix metalwork shop. She handles new gate installations, custom fab repairs, and anything involving a MIG torch - which in Arizona means a lot of rusted hinge rebuilds and sagging frame corrections. She’s particularly good at matching existing ironwork when a homeowner needs a new pedestrian gate that doesn’t look like an afterthought. Elena keeps a notebook of every gate she’s installed, with sketches of the latch geometry and clearances. She has a standing bet with Marcus about whether a given Phoenix gate was originally installed level, or just level enough for 2008.

Darnell K., Service Coordinator

Darnell answers the phones. That sounds simple until you try doing it while fielding three emergency calls during a monsoon outage, keeping four technicians routed across Paradise Valley, Ahwatukee, and Maryvale, and making sure every homeowner gets the name and photo of who’s coming before the truck rolls. He’s been with us since 2020. He knows which neighborhoods have HOA gate codes that change quarterly, which properties need a call-ahead because of aggressive dogs, and which Phoenix zip codes always seem to have a blown GFCI after a dust storm. Darnell is the reason a live person picks up at 11 p.m. on a Sunday. He fishes the Salt River when it’s running, and he will talk about it if you let him.

Jesse M., Apprentice Technician

Jesse started in 2023, fresh out of a Mesa electrical program, and he’s deliberately the last person we let work solo. That’s not a knock - it’s how we train. He rides with Marcus or Elena for six months minimum, logging every call, every part number, every photo in the Haven Standard file. He’s already better at programming Ghost Controls and Mighty Mule residential operators than I was at year five, mostly because he reads the manual before he touches the dip switches. Jesse grew up in Sunnyslope and still lives there, which means he understands why a gate that won’t open at 6 a.m. is not a tomorrow problem for someone trying to get to Sky Harbor.

One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard applies to all of us equally. Clause 1 means the written price hits your hand before a wrench turns. Clause 4 means Jesse’s first solo job gets the same photo documentation as a commercial access-control install I did in 2014.
